Uniquely within the whole of Europe, the title Architect' is not protected by law in Guernsey which means that any person (qualified or otherwise) may choose to use it. The Guernsey Society of Architects is the local branch of the Royal Institute of British Architects and its principal functions are to protect the integrity of the term Architect' and to promote the values, skills and codes of conduct that this title represents. Chartered Architects are listed with the Architects' Registration Board of the United Kingdom and therefore GSA members adhere to the Professional Codes of Conduct established by both organisations.
